Our philosophy of Inclusive Education is simple. We believe all students should be provided with programming that allows them to experience success in school yet challenges them to grow and develop to their potential.
Students are taught/grouped based upon their needs and level of prior achievement. They can receive support or enrichment as required. Often they are not grouped by “grade level”. Each student is supported by a team of teachers along with a teacher assistant. The school offers a variety of programs and course streams to help provide for the needs of all students. All students are directed to programming based on pre- assessments, school- based assessment,s in reading and numeracy, possibly ed- psy assessments, as well as evidence gained through parent meetings and student – created Personal Education Plans. Programs and supports range from small group pull- outs, life skills programming, modified academics, low course streams, average/midcourse streams, academic course streams, credit recovery options, to fast- tracking options. Within each program, staff work with individual students to ensure the greatest chances of success.
